God's Vision For Us As His Church
Listen to Isaiah, Chapter 61, while you read this page.
As a church, we have received this verse from the Bible as a specific vision for our locally-appointed mission which, we believe, God is calling us to. "Oaks of Righteousness" has two meanings:
-
As individual Christians, we are called to be disciples of Christ, living holy lives, disciplined and committed to obey God's Word, depending on the Holy Spirit & witnessing to Jesus through words & action
-
As a church, to plant churches out from St Peter's for the display of his splendour - His kingdom, not ours
This means, we are
-
Called to be and live as a mission people. This involves us being a healing community that promotes wholeness in all areas of life. To do this we are develop-ing an outreach & community care programme
-
Called to restore the ruins around Thanet by planting Word-founded, Spirit-filled, mission-focussed congregations: We have established teams to start this
-
Promised a double portion of the Lord's provision as we follow His vision for His church. This requires us, as individuals and as a church, to step out in faith, developing worship and ministry, allowing the Lord to provide for His people & to release their potential
