The Baptist Church, St Peter's-A Place For All the Family

Wow!

Children and Youth Ministry

The Baptist Church, St Peter's, has a large and thriving ministry for Children and Young People. Recognising the structure of schools, the Church's work for children is for those up to year 6 (the last year in primary school); the youth work is for those in secondary school. Whatever the age, the church offers children and young people a wide variety of activities, not just on Sundays, but also during the week

Pre-School

Little Acorns is the place for parents and preschool children to meet, make friends and have fun. Held on Friday mornings, between 10 and 11.30 am, there is lots to do for the children with an activity or craft every week. Refreshments are served-tea, coffee and squash-with biscuits for everyone. The sessions always finish with singing and cost £1.00 for the morning. So, if you have a child, from newborn to school age, you will be welcome to come and join us and make new friends.

Children

As a church, we welcome children of all ages. On Sunday mornings we provide an opportunity for children to learn about and experience a living faith in the Lord Jesus. Sunday mornings start with the children and adults joining together at the start of morning worship. Then the children leave the service to go into their own groups which use relevant material for and where children of all ages have a lively and fun time in an age-appropriate session. Each session is focussed on developing the children and young people's understanding of God's truth and on sharing and deepening our experiences of God's love. The staff, knowing that God has called them to this ministry, are excited and rewarded as they see the children and young people grow in their love and knowledge of Jesus

Youth

Life as a teenager is often a roller-coaster ride of mixed emotions and times of trial & triumph. Generally experiences which we all go through, but always seem that much worse when you're in the throes of adolescence. At The Baptist Church, St Peter's, we aim to promote a life that is fun, a faith that is relevant and friendships that are long-lasting. On Friday nights we meet together to do just that!

…and keeping everybody safe

Keeping children safe is important! So, every leader or helper in the Church's Children and Youth Ministry has been thoroughly trained and police-checked under our Child Protection Policy-Safe to Grow. Parents and guardians must know that every leader or helper wears a badge which guarantees that they have authority from the church to be involved in this ministry. There is ongoing training and regular updates for them as leaders and helpers. Children have an advocate to whom they can go to and parents may approach the Child Protection Officer if they have any concerns. The Church knows the importance of trust and being assured of a policy which means that our children are safe to grow.
