Where is St Peter's?
The Baptist Church, St Peter's, is in the picturesque village of St Peter's in East Kent. The Baptist Church has met in St Peter's for over 300 years - once in secret in a chalk pit. Nowadays, fortunately, we are more open and visible! The local area of Thanet is well known for the three seaside resorts of Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate. Alongside Minster Abbey (outside Ramsgate) and St Johns (Margate), the parish church of St Peter's was one of the first churches established when St Augustine landed to reclaim England for Christendom in 597 AD. Until the 1800s the village was the main focal point, surrounded by numerous farms with Broadstairs and its harbour on the outskirts. With the growth in the tourism, Broadstairs is now the main town of which the parish of St Peter-in-Thanet is now part. Broadstairs is well known for it Dickens connection, and the annual Dickens festival, along with the annual Folk Week, Water Gala, Sea Sunday and summer fireworks displays. For residents, Broadstairs is a university town, with a campus of the flourishing Canterbury Christ Church University, as well home of the Thanet College and of several nursery, primary & secondary schools. In Broadstairs high street there are still traditional shops and restaurants (catering for many tastes) which are supplemented by those on the outskirts of the town at Westwood where there many superstores including the Westwood Cross shopping area. The main attraction for tourists and residents alike are the seven sandy bays of Broadstairs, with the natural harbour at Viking Bay. In short, we like Broadstairs & St Peter's Maps Galore Depending on what computer you have and what you have installed, we offer you two alterative maps which should open in a new window:
For those using satellite navigation devices, CT10 2SG is our postcode. However, common sense will also be required as this covers most of the street! Coming from Westwood (from the roundabout junction of Broadstairs Road, Dane Court Road and Westwood Road), we are on the left between the Chinese restaurant and the parish church, opposite the fish and chip shop Why not now visit one of these pages?
